DDB Fall Market 2018—Luxury Redefined & Redesigned

Luxury Redefined & Redesigned was the Decoration & Design Building theme for Fall Market 2018. @DDB. The speaker lineup had some of the most influential and most talented designers in the home luxury marketplace. Inspirational discussions occurred throughout the day about the state of great comfort and extravagant living. “With a more informed clientele and a world of instant gratification, unbound accessibility and limitless customization the definition of luxury is dramatically shifting.” This year’s participants got earfuls of information and innovative ways to solve some of these fast-passed issues with 21st century solutions.

Some of the highlights from Day-One included: Warp & Weft showroom’s Luxe Interiors+Design Magazine sponsored “Creating and Conveying Luxury in the Retail, Hospitality and Restaurant Realms,” Claremont Furnishing’s sponsored by Traditional Home Magazine’s discussion “Luxury in Today’s Casual World,” Lladro’s DDB new showroom grand opening cocktail party and Lee Jofa showroom’s hosting Hunt Slonem’s book signing of “Gatekeeper, World of Folly.”

To our great disappointment, we only attended opening day this year but over the course of two opulence-filled days—including six Keynotes, 22 In-Showroom Programs, one Special Event, four Cocktail Receptions, 14 NEW Experiential Events, and 118 Open Houses—guests discovered the new look and meaning of luxury through the lens of design.

Hosted by the Warp & Weft carpet showroom was Luxe Design+ Interiors Magazine’s executive editor Brittany Chevalier McIntyre who led a panel of distinguished designers on the subject of – Creating and Conveying Luxury in the Retail, Hospitality and Restaurant Realms. The talented and ever-entertaining Juan Montoya, Ryan Korbar and Alicia Cannon of AJC Design discussed their insight and lifestyle design spaces they created that transcend time and place.

Lladro: New Showroom Grand Opening

Lladro celebrated the grand opening of their new 18th floor lighting & decor showroom @the Decoration & Design Building highlighting their new luxurious and whimsical collections. Featuring handcrafted porcelain lighting, décor, sculptures, and accessories. We, of course, love the whimsical but that beautiful hanging light fixture was our favorite. The Champagne was grand too.

Lee Jofa Showroom hosted Hunt Slonem’s book signing:
Gatekeeper, World of Folly

It might have been the free-flowing Champagne and the long day visiting the showrooms but by the time we got to the Lee Jofa Showroom, we were a bit exhausted. But the generosity of our host, Lee Jofa’s drink and hors d’oeuvres revitalized us and that simply comfy Lee Jofa Ariel Chair really helped create a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy their fine furnishings and contemporary to those wonderful traditional French, incredibly beautiful fabric and wallpaper designs. Disclosure alert: we’ve always been a big fan of Brunschwig Fils. And then there was one of the most talented and creative artists of our time signing his latest book “World of Folly,” Hunt Slonem. It was great to see him and all his fans dressed creatively appropriate. We of course “LOVE THE BUNNIES,” that’s the “Bitty Bunnies,” but this new book release is stunning and recommend you not walk, but run to your favorite book outlet (computer) and get one. A wonderful end to a very long and informative day. Thank you DDB and all the wonderful showroom hosts and sponsors.
