A Bespoke Luxury 5th Avenue Kitchen Renovation

A PLACE FOR EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING IN IT'S PLACE
……Eggersmann Macassar Ebony Lower & Vetro Satinato Optic Mirrored Glass upper Cabinets….

Gurri’s latest kitchen design remodel is a Fifth Avenue prewar apartment in Manhattan’s tony upper east side.

This down-to-the-studs’ kitchen renovation had to stay within the original footprint. Because of its limited 152-square feet and structural issues, there was no room to expand within the kitchen. The original kitchen was tucked away in the back of the apartment with little natural light. By removing the walls between the kitchen and the dining room light is able to stream in from the living room. The new open floor plan also allowed taking floor space from the dining room. In addition, this allowed expanding the kitchen to fit a full-size wine fridge and freezer/fridge combo.

Designed in collaboration with Lee Wanaselja from Eggersmann Kitchens a traditional, yet modern and warm, rich look was created with the Macassar Ebony cabinetry. High gloss lacquered, custom Eggersmann Luxury German Cabinetry Modern Collection, (book & grain matched) looks more like furniture. Certainly, makes the perfect transition to the living spaces. The home owners are art lovers and their living room acts as a gallery. So, the large wine fridge close to the dining area is perfect for entertaining. The beautiful Ebony cabinetry adds a hefty dose of richness that helps ground the all-white palette.

The Living Kitchen Is The New Living Room

White light reflects off the Eggersmann Vetro Satinato Optic Mirrored Glass upper cabinets. Similarly, satin mirror backsplash bounces natural light around the room along with Hastings’ Calacutta Semi-gloss white porcelain floor tiles. This crisp white framing creates an open and airy background highlighting the stunning dark Macassar Ebony cabinetry.

The brightness of white assists in the focused task of cooking, and the ebony helps warm the room while providing a durable finish. Likewise, the Caesarstone Quartz countertops anchor the design with warmth and visual weight while keeping the room light and airy.

The entrance to your home should be welcoming, but a smooth transition from outside daylight to the interior lighting is needed. The under counter, dimmer controlled LED emotion color lighting, transitions the kitchen’s mood matching the living space. It’s much easier to adjust lighting than to paint a wall. In fact, you can change the mood of the room just by brightening or dimming the lighting and color.

‘A Place For Everything, Everything In Its Place’

Further, the kitchen renovation design makes the best use of the narrow layout packing in a lot of functional storage. Taking the upper cabinets right up to the ceiling maximized storage potential in this kitchen renovation. In addition, the design included minimizing countertop clutter by having a place for everything. For example, smart storage solutions included: solid aluminum drawer box, custom interior drawer fittings, tailored inserts, all increasing functionality. This certainly enhances the view of the kitchen from the living room and terrace facing Central Park.

Most importantly, high-end appliances blend in with the finely crafted bespoke custom built German made Macassar Ebony cabinetry. The kitchen renovation centers around the Eggersmann cabinetry befitting an iconic 5th Avenue apartment. The timeless contemporary cabinetry camouflages a panel-ready GAGGENAU dishwasher. A full size SUB-ZERO wine refrigerator features beech-wood pullouts and controls light exposure, air humidity and temperature. And, the Sub-Zero French door refrigerator/freezer, provides an aesthetically pleasing transition between the kitchen and dining room. It also keeps those in need of a beverage out of the main kitchen workflow and closer to the entertainment area.

The kitchen renovation’s wall removal created the need for a sight-line worth seeing. Therefore, the kitchen back-wall was designed to highlight the WOLF 30-inch black & chrome gas range. A black backsplash behind the stove top, and jet black CAESARSTONE Quartz countertops compliment the Ebony Eggersmann cabinetry. A stainless-steel FRANKE sink and fixtures smartly placed under a small window in the corner of the room expands the view.

Gurri Has Been Inspiring Award-Winning Residential And Commercial Design, Remodeling And Renovation Services For Over 20 Years

The before floor plan of the kitchen shows the limitations of the layout. Notice how little storage space there was because of limited square footage. Subsequently, the final kitchen renovation takes full advantage of an open floor-plan, expanding the kitchen, making it more user-friendly. It’s now so bright, so welcoming!
