Thinking About “Eco-Thinking?”

Like the fashion industry the interior design and construction industries need to up-the-ante on their sustainability consciousness. And one of the companies Gurri thinks has stepped-up is Ann Sacks Tile & Stone. Now, we have Eco-Thinking on our minds.

Most importantly, spring has finally sprung and Gurri has just fallen in love–all over again with Ann Sacks!  One of the highlights of the new 2019 Spring Collection comes ‘Crackle.’ Partnering with their parent company KOHLER, has created the Crackle Collection. RECYCLED from unrefined pottery cull and other production ‘casts offs.’ For example, the recycled-tile clay body is translated into beautiful ecological, thoughtful tile. For instance, crackle comes in five-sizes, multiple shapes and six-saturated colors, we especially like the emerald. Above all, Eco-Thinking is formost in mind for this product line.

In addition, if this is not enough to “fall in love–all over again,” the rest of the new spring collection may possibly make it happen for you! With new designs from the iconic LIAISON collection by Kelly Wearstler, stone designs–visually striking and boldly distinctive. Likewise, the brand-new colors from the TERRAZZO RENATA collection. Certainaly, a modern take on 15th-century terrazzo used in palazzos and casas throughout Italy. Moreover, the unique 3-D effect of the DIMENSION Porcelain collection and the new terra cotta and white glazes, intrigued us. And, our breath was taken away with the SCALA marble–a guaranteed showstopper!

“In full disclosure: the Gurri company has had a long working professional relationship with Ann Sacks and has, for over 20+ wonderful years installed their products for our clients, ” states Gurri President Sami Kelmendi.

For Example, here are a few sample images of our recent visit to the Ann Sacks, New York City 58th Street showroom:

Being Mindful of The Planet & Corporate Responsibility

However, tile and stone already offer inherently sustainability attributes, such as longevity. Further, being free of chemical off-gassing they don’t rely on toxic chemicals. Ann Sacks steps-up to the sustainability plate with an Eco-Thinking logo for easy identification of the most sustainable products. So, we think as buyers become more Eco-Thinking, and millennials awareness increase demand for eco-friendly products will increase.

“Eco-Thinking keeps us ever-mindful of ways to reduce our footprint.”

Certainly, Ann Sacks stands out as a corporate responsible company with their core philosophy. However, it’s more than materials used for production of the sustainable product lines. For instance, recycled glass to the energy efficient concrete employ Eco-Thinking production in the Oregon USA factory. For example, using energy efficient fast firing kilns, to recycled excess raw clay, to the use of lead-free glazes all are part of sustainablilty. Likewise, filtering manufacturing wastewater before it leaves the factory and products that are shipped in recycled/recyclable packaging are part of the process. NOW THAT’S WHAT WE CONSIDER GOOD CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP!
